Electronic Design Services
Viasystems offers global design services for our customers, including development of backplanes and indoor and outdoor cabinets and enclosures. We support these design services for our industrial & instrumentation/ medical/consumer, computer/datacom and telecom customers.
Viasystems’ design engineers will work with your engineers to develop your product according to the required specifications and our project engineers will provide the required technical support from initial product development through high-volume production. Viasystems will also
provide project management to oversee agency approvals, as well as reliability and compliance testing for your product and market. Our design services combine our global design resources to enable you to get your products to market and into volume production faster.
Metal/Enclosure Design Services
Viasystems’ extensive experience in metal and enclosure design has enabled us to build a significant engineering team located globally in Shanghai, the U.K. and North America. We have all the necessary in-house capabilities to engineer total solutions for all enclosure related
products including mechanical, thermal and electronic design for both indoor and outdoor products and applications.
Viasystems’ Shanghai operations offer engineers focused on material utilization, manufacturing processes and cost during the design phase ensuring our design solutions are cost effective, for both new products and value-engineered solutions of our
customers’ existing products.
Viasystems’ North America operations offer a full line of value-added services to our customers of custom sheet metal products. These services include: custom design using ProE and AutoCAD; design for manufacturing analysis; and formalized new
product introduction processes that manage your product through the quotation, design, prototype, pre-production and production stages of the product development life cycle. Project management services utilize Microsoft Project and other state-of-the-art
methods. A dedicated prototype cell insures timely prototype development. Product documentation is accomplished within the Agile, Fourth Shift, and Rapid Response systems while programming and nesting operations are accomplished using Optimation and NC Express software packages.
Viasystems’ UK operations offer a broad range of engineering support in the design, manufacture and verification of electro-mechanical assemblies.
Capabilities offered include:
- Interpreting and defining a customers’ technical requirements in formal product specifications
- Project planning and management of the development process through to volume manufacture
- Design support in providing mechanical and thermal solutions to meet a customers’ product needs
- Optimization of product design for manufacture (DFM), to insure that manufacturing processes are used cost effectively
- Consultancy in specifying and managing product testing and validation programs
- Ongoing technical liaison between European customers and Viasystems’ manufacturing locations
